Lake Naivasha - Kenya, a beautiful place. With lots of buffalo...
For animals their size they're quite a nervous bunch. Or should I say they're just a bit too touchy about how close you can really get to them.
I had a few run ins with them while i was out camping there and this is what I learnt:
How to Negotiate for a Photo Shoot with Buffalo:
--------------------------------------------------------
1. DO NOT under any circumstances surprise the models - they REALLY don't like that
2. Make deliberate steps towards the "studio" or ideal scenery where your models are.
3. Keep moving forward. CAREFULLY!
4. Point your camera at the models and shoot when they make the ideal pose.
5. If you find your models appearing larger and larger in the view finder by the second they are probably running towards you!
6. DO NOT RUN!
7. No really, DO NOT RUN!
8. Stand your ground until the models come to a halt.
9. When they do, don't make any sudden movements - simply stare back.
10. If they advance towards you, pick up a small pebble and hurl it in their direction. They will stop once again.
11. However if they don't you really ought to skip to step 12 in a hurry.
12. ARE YOU STILL READING THIS??? PHOTO SHOOT OVER, RUN, YOU SHOULD BE HALF WAY TO MEXICO BY NOW!!!!
And there ends the lesson, you can't really negotiate a for a photo shoot with a heard of buffalo. I mean, thats just suicidal!

"America hates Dib" is not a commandment but an observation, not an injunction but a lament.
